In 1975, Fred Bates began manufacturing resin bonded cut-off and grinding wheels for customers in the Pacific Northwest. He founded his company on the premise that customers want a high quality wheel engineered to fit their application and delivered in a reasonable time frame. Soon Bates Abrasives was known throughout the industry for product excellence and superior customer support.
